Sustainable Finger Lakes has taken a leadership role in organizing local and regional resistance to the proposed 400 MW hyperscale AI data center that TeraWulf, a bitcoin mining company, wants to build at the site of the old coal plant on Cayuga Lake in the Town of Lansing. We’re working with organizations like Citizen Action of NY, Seneca Lake Guardian, NYPIRG, Ithaca DSA, and a host of talented and committed local citizens to investigate the potential impacts of adding this much load to our local grid and the reliability of the claims being made by TeraWulf – while collaborating with citizen groups across the nation that are fighting data center impacts on their communities.
