The Communications and Outreach Intern will:
- Participate as a team member in the outreach and programming of SFLX.
- Write press releases and feature articles for local media to share clean energy stories.
- Post updates to social media and websites for our Finger Lakes Climate Fund and SFLX.
- Research potential businesses across the region to join our Finger Lakes Enterprises for Climate Action (FLECA) and recruit them as a carbon offsetting partner.
- Update our website and social media; make short one-take videos of our partners; create graphic designs using Canva; write and edit short articles; provide community education at events and door-to-door; give talks to groups about our programs.
- Assist with an awareness and engagement campaign across the 14 counties of the Finger Lakes Region to promote clean energy, grid stability, environmental stewardship, and climate justice.
The Clean Energy and Networks Intern will:
- Participate as a team member in the outreach and programming of SFLX.
- Take over the ongoing project of developing our network analysis for the clean energy and climate sector on the Kumu platform.
- Follow up with those who have not yet filled out the survey for installers, clean energy hubs, municipal programs, and nonprofits working in the clean energy and climate space across the 14 counties of the Finger Lakes Region.
- Supervise data entry from the surveys, and develop network maps for specific issues to show the relationships and networks of the participants.
- Conduct in-depth review of economic development strategies, workforce development programs, and current marketplace conditions for the clean energy sector in Tompkins and the surrounding counties of Schuyler, Yates, Seneca, Cayuga, Cortland, Tioga, Steuben and Chemung.
- Assist with an awareness and engagement campaign across the 14 counties of the Finger Lakes Region to promote clean energy, environmental stewardship, and climate justice.
In addition, the interns may be asked to help staff with other tasks related to Sustainable Finger Lakes.
The ideal candidate has strong organizational and interpersonal skills, working knowledge on climate action and clean energy, outgoing personality, ability to work independently, familiarity with digital media and websites, and can provide own transportation.
