Please join us this Wednesday at 6:30 pm in Lansing Town Hall for a public hearing to precede a vote by the Town Board on a proposed one-year moratorium on large developments while our Town completes its land use and zoning codes update. This will prevent any undesirable projects from being built while we are defenseless to stop harmful projects such as Terawulf’s proposed massive AI hyperscale data center. With billionaire investors pouring money into AI (Google just increased their investment in Terawulf to a total of $3.2 BILLION), it is critical that small communities like Lansing organize to protect itself from exploitation of our environment and neighborhoods (and massive increases in our electricity bills as well!).
All over the nation, we are seeing large corporations and billionaire hedge fund investors gobbling up land, housing, water systems etc. while typically evading paying a fair share of taxes. We have to organize to protect ourselves from being turned into sacrifice zones and from losing local control. We are a home rule state; let’s keep it that way.
You can read the proposed moratorium here.
Let’s support the Lansing Town Board in establishing this moratorium while we do some careful thinking about how to protect our rights and local control. Come and voice your support at the public hearing on Wednesday!
