🌟 Supporting Food Security & Reducing Food Waste Since 2015! 🌟
Through our Neighborhood Mini-Grants, Sustainable Finger Lakes (SFLX) has proudly funded community-driven projects that promote food security and help limit food waste. 🍅✨ Some of these gardens and initiatives are still thriving today, and we’re excited to add another awardee to our list:
☀️ Danby Food and Drink
This beloved café and grocery is enhancing its outdoor gathering space with shade sails and locally sourced posts, creating a welcoming environment for the community to connect—rain or shine!
🌿 Other Inspiring Food Projects We’ve Supported:
🍴Dryden High School switched to reusable cutlery in their cafeteria, reducing their plastic single-use utensils from over 8,000 a month to 0, and saving over $200 monthly.
🤝 A mutual aid food-sharing cabinet with coolers for perishable food at the Peter De Mott Catholic Worker House in Southside.
🌱 A raised garden bed for vegetables and herbs at the Northside Meeting House, open for public harvesting and still thriving today.
🍏 The Friendship Donations Network’s Neighborhood Food Hubs program, helping redistribute fresh food to those in need with promotional materials to grow the initiative.
