After the last Water Front blog about high rates of cancer in areas surrounding the Seneca Meadows landfill, the New York State Department of Health announced it would no longer be releasing cancer data by census tract. While they claimed this decision was made before the article was published, this news makes it much harder to see how specific areas are affected by cancer. Simply looking at cancer numbers for a county can be misleading, according to experts.
