On June 13, journalist Peter Mantius published another story on his blog Water Front regarding sewage sludge being used as fertilizer. A third Steuben County town, Bath, has stepped up and enacted a one-year waste moratorium to prevent sludge from being spread on their farmland. Citizens expressed their concerns of harm of humans and land as a result of PFAS found in sewage sludge to the town council, and the moratorium passed 5-0. To read more about the situation in Bath, read Peter’s article here.
