Free webinar Tuesday, October 25th 6pm
Does your neighborhood or community flood? Are you looking for meaningful ways to get involved? New York Sea Grant is hosting an informational webinar to promote a new statewide community science tool called MyCoast NY, a new a platform for sharing and viewing photos of local flooding and storm damage. The tool automatically links photo reports to weather, river, and tidal data and posts them to the MyCoast.org/ny website. You can contribute photos of flooding, shoreline change, and storm damage from your area, and access photos from throughout the state. MyCoast NY is being released by New York Sea Grant (NYSG) as a two-year pilot project in partnership with the New York State Water Resources Institute at Cornell University.
The goal of MyCoast is to help stakeholders like government agencies, business owners, and residents understand our changing environment and make informed decisions. Managers hope to use the tool to better understand, visualize, and raise awareness of climate and weather impacts to infrastructure, the environment, and our communities.
All New Yorkers that experience flooding and storm damage and are interested in contributing to a collective effort to better document these events are encouraged to attend a webinar introducing and explaining the new tool on October 25, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. Register at: https://cornell.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_VCzfielOS-6CWJ9DIz-Hxw?mc_cid=a85801fa58&mc_eid=203116b976
