The Friends of the Ithaca Farmers Market (IFM) is announcing its first fundraising event, “The Battle of the (Farm) Bands”. Farmers Market affiliated bands will compete on Sunday, October 9 from 5:00-8:00pm at IFM’s Steamboat Landing Pavilion, 545 3rd Street in Ithaca. The event will feature IFM food and drink vendors, a raffle, and a silent auction with products from local farmers and artists. Families are encouraged to attend together and check out free kid-friendly activities provided by Finger Lakes Toy Library and others. Admission to the event is free, with a suggested donation of $10/person or $20/family; guests will receive one free raffle ticket for every $5 donated.
The bands, battling for bragging rights and a special performance at Hopshire Brewing, are listed below with their farm affiliation. Each band will play for 30 minutes. Vote for your favorite band during their performance by placing a tip in their tip jar!
- Carbon 66 (Little Tree Orchards, IFM Vendor)
- Estelle Waterman (The Farm at Hopshire, IFM Vendor)
- Motherwort (Three Stone Farm, featuring former IFM Vendors)
- Taylor Buhler (Head + Heal, IFM Vendor)
- The Local Farmers Union (Main Street Farms, IFM Vendor)
- djMateo (40 Weight, IFM Vendor)
Funds raised through this event and other efforts will help IFM to improve their parking lot, sustain the market at Steamboat Landing, and offer programs that support current and future vendors and the community.
About: Friends of the Ithaca Farmers Market is a non-profit founded in January 2022 to ensure the future viability of our community’s premier farmers market at Steamboat Landing. Goals are to establish an emergency fund for vendors in case of crisis (many are underinsured); a market business startup fund for under-resourced individuals; and a food security fund to help community members in need of food.
