Rosie is a grocery delivery service that works with your local grocers to bring you the food you’ve come to trust! They help grow the local economy by supporting and marketing local artisans, growers and producers who in turn hire more local workers, infuse money into the economy and foster strong local cultures. They also accept SNAP benefits, allowing greater access to food. Rosie was a startup at Cornell that was recognized by the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce as the Distinguished Business of the Year for its investment in Ithaca, cultivating a modern workforce and being pioneers of the tech service industry in Tompkins County. Since it’s founding in 2012, they have expanded to a national scale, but are still headquartered right here in the Finger Lakes! They were also recently featured in Tompkins Weekly, following news of $10 million in investments. Regarding their major growth, Chief Customer Officer, Dave Makar said, “As we grow, as we hire, we’re looking nationwide for candidates for jobs, but there are a lot of great local candidates who are applying that we have hired. So, I imagine we’ll continue to keep the pace of hiring here in the county.” Big props to Rosie for supporting the local workforce while helping to combat food insecurity!
