Composting helps cut down on one of the major sources of waste we send to landfills, saves money, and gives us rich soil for gardening. Become a Master Composter and help teach others to compost!
Join other enthusiastic volunteers for 10 in-depth classes and 20 hours of practical learning outside of class. Classes cover a variety of compost and education topics that will prepare you to become a compost educator in Tompkins County. The 20 hours of training outside of class include hands-on composting, teaching or assisting at classes, researching compost topics, and designing an independent volunteer project. After training, use your new compost know-how and teaching experience to help others in the community.
Training is held on Thursday evenings, 6:00 – 8:00pm, from March 4th to May 13th. The first half of training will be conducted virtually over Zoom, while the second half will be a mix of in-person and virtual. To accommodate the public school break, class will not be held on April 8th.
