NYSEG has requested they be allowed to increase their electric rates by more than 20% in our region. Please attend one of the public hearings and voice your concerns about how our public utility is being managed: Wednesday, August 14, 2 pm, Ithaca (County Library) or Thursday, August 15, 6 pm, Binghamton (City Hall). Talking points include: ending investment in gas infrastructure and subsidize beneficial electrification for electric vehicles and heat pumps; developing new and meaningful incentives for heat pumps and efficiency measures for lower-income residents; improve the grid to accommodate hooking up new solar and wind farms; reduce their fixed charge for electricity service which harms poor residents while giving wealthy and high-energy consumers the same price; make NYSEG go green by making their rate structure reflect their progress toward achieving affordable green energy goals.
